In it’s heyday, Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre was a critical hub for the community, full of life, in more recent years, many of the stores near Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre have been shuttered, and a large number of renters have outgrown the Mall. The building was once a bustling place, filled with food booths, goldsmiths, and retailers of all descriptions. The decrease of this once central business place is in part due to the gentrification of the region. Newer and more modern malls replaced the outdated building, but it appears that store owners are currently considering renting and purchasing space within the Mall, and empty stores are once again being filled. Forestwood Residences is near to Serangoon Stadium and Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre.

Among the longest running companies within the Mall is a computer repair shop and it sits within the building alongside other retailers and restaurants, in a place that appears to be becoming important to the community surrounding it.

The closeness of public transport, and great schools, make this a prime location for Singapore retailers. It also means that stores available on the market can cost upwards of S$22,000 a month in lease or 997 $2,599, S to buy. Many Singaporeans have fond memories of the shops and this mall that it housed, and it’s also not impossible to comprehend those with such childhood memories would be brought to revisiting the thriving building of their youths and seeing what’s on offer there.
